Perfect Formula Creates Perfect Nail Color

While running her family nail polish business, Cosmetic Coatings Corporation, Shari Gottesman created nail color collections for some of the beauty industry’s top names.  Now as the founder of her own luxury nail care brand, Perfect Formula, Shari introduces Perfect Color ($15 each). Known for its “suit of armor” strengthening base coats, Perfect Color offers a unique strengthening formula in a sumptuous color palette. The custom-designed brush helps ensure a smooth, even application, and the edgy, deco-inspired glass bottles mimic tiny objets d’art for the vanity. Unlike most nail polishes, these come in Deco-inspired cutaway boxes, which reveal the distinct angular shape of the bottle and the shade of the lacquer. The Spring/ Summer collection evokes the pretty pastel watercolors of Monet’s Water Lilies, with names such as Jardin, Nympheas, L’Orangerie and Giverny.

First Aid Beauty Rescues Skin with New Treatments

First Aid Beauty (FAB) hired design pro Deborah Adler, then dove in to fill a niche in skin care with both products and packaging. Now FAB has launched a Body Moisturizer ($18) and a Body Wash ($14) in equally arresting packaging. The HDPE cylinders and silver laminated film highlight a sea-foam green, which allows the consumer to readily distinguish products in the line based on background color. The green designates body products, while blue identifies core products, and pink denotes age-delay offerings. FAB says it chose the green hue “because it is fresh, for men and women, complements colors in the line and stands out from other body products on the market.” The Body Moisturizer nourishes and restores all skin types, while the moisturizing Body Wash is infused with a blend of botanical antioxidants to combat free radicals and prevent photo-aging.

Guerlain Perfumers Continue Tradition

For the four successive generations of Guerlain perfumers, creating an Eau de Cologne was almost a rite of passage on the way to joining the line of truly great perfumers. Pierre-François-Pascal, Aimé, Jacques and Jean-Paul Guerlain each captured the essence of their time for posterity. The founder of Guerlain began the tradition, composing Eau de Cologne Impériale for Her Majesty Empress Eugénie in 1853; the Empress approved, and bestowed upon him the coveted title of Official Perfumer. To house his composition, Pierre-François-Pascal commissioned his glassmaker to produce the celebrated flacon decorated with bees, a symbol of the Empire, which would subsequently become the model for all Guerlain Eaux de Cologne. Today, Thierry Wasser, the successor of Jean-Paul Guerlain, offers a highly personal version of his cologne. La Cologne du Parfumeur ($96/100ml) is a green-citrus unisex composition.
